Sydney Sweeney and an unrecognizable Ben Foster deliver ferocious performances in #Christy, a raw portrait of struggle and resilience, punctuated by electrifying boxing moments. It’s unflinching in its portrayal of pain, but ultimately hopeful in the way it depicts a story that… pic.twitter.com/uNcSV45XiN

Sydney Sweeney delivers the performance of a lifetime in Christy. She fully transforms into Christy Winters, offering a deeply nuanced portrayal that will leave audiences speechless. Ben Foster is hauntingly good. This is a life-affirming story about self-discovery and… pic.twitter.com/h8chbFIKuj

SYDNEY SWEENEY absolutely crushes it with an OSCAR-WORTHY KNOCKOUT PERFORMANCE as boxing legend CHRISTY MARTIN in “CHRISTY,” a gripping film that starts off as an uplifting underdog boxing drama & slowly turns into an empowering survival story of domestic violence! AMAZING! #TIFF pic.twitter.com/UTmnxRGVSk

CHRISTY: Sydney Sweeney goes the distance in David Michôd’s uneven boxing biopic, where harrowing moments rival STAR 80, especially Ben Foster in an Eric Roberts-esque performance. However, the greatest opponent remains prolonged sports movie clichés. #TIFF50 pic.twitter.com/b0uXh0QXFn

Performance wise, CHRISTY is a knockout. Sydney Sweeney is terrific, and whenever the focus was on Slater's personal life, it was highly compelling. Unfortunately, the boxing scenes and plot failed to stand apart from other similar films. - Nick #Christy #TIFF50 pic.twitter.com/xUOPFBQUYi

CHRISTY is a vibrant sports drama with a powerful story. Michôd directs with style and insight, highlighting both the action in the ring and Christy’s internal struggles. Sydney Sweeney proves she is a chameleonic actress. She is as absolutely brilliant as she is brutal. #TIFF50 pic.twitter.com/Y5Tz5ygN3N

Sydney Sweeney delivers a phenomenal performance in CHRISTY that you cannot take your eyes off. The film itself might not be revolutionary, but it's uncompromising in its depiction of an inspiring woman who overcame so very much. Brutal in parts but essential viewing. #TIFF50 pic.twitter.com/Kp9UgZHUOw

CHRISTY is a well made biopic elevated by an absolute knockout performance by Sydney Sweeney. She's ferocious here, landing every right hook harder than the last with a stellar supporting cast behind her including Ben Foster, Merritt Wever and scene stealer Katy O'Brian. #TIFF50 pic.twitter.com/Ev7OMxvUgM

CHRISTY is a barn burner of a true story which thrusts Sydney Sweeney in the spotlight of the Oscar picture with her role as the iconic boxer, Christy Salters. Ben Foster navigates a complex and haunting performance as well in what is a triumphant but difficult watch. #TIFF pic.twitter.com/ZHXTPfdvRs

CHRISTY may be playing into the ropes of too many biopic conventions but the heart of the titular boxer's decade-spanning fight to freedom is put into the right place. Sydney Sweeney gives her career-best to date but Ben Foster. OOOH BEN FOSTER. GODDAMNIT BEN FOSTER. #TIFF50 pic.twitter.com/ZJ4ur9AKsi
