La carrera por el Oscar llega a un momento clave: los premios de los sindicatos. El próximo jueves conoceremos las listas de nominados del PGA y el DGA, dos asociaciones que siempre dan pistas importantes de lo que acabará sucediendo en los premios de la Academia. Menos útiles serán las candidaturas al WGA puesto que los premios otorgados por los guionistas presentarán unas listas que tendrán muy poco que ver con lo que acabaremos viendo en los Oscar (especialmente en el apartado de mejor guion adaptado). En este post intentamos dilucidar lo que sucederá en las nominaciones de los productores, los directores y los guionistas.

SINDICATO DE PRODUCTORES (PGA)

Hay siete películas que parecen tener el puesto asegurado en el PGA más una octava ('No mires arriba'), que genera más dudas debido a la división crítica con la que ha sido recibida. Para los dos últimos puestos hay múltiples opciones pero a los productores les gusta recompensar a los éxitos comerciales así que no es descabellado pensar que aquí podrían aparecer 'La casa Gucci' (una de los pocos dramas adultos que han funcionado bien en la taquilla americana) y 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' (cabe recordar que en este premio estuvieron 'Deadpool' y 'Wonder Woman').

SINDICATO DE DIRECTORES (DGA)

En este punto de la carrera parece haber un quinteto consolidado en Mejor Dirección (Jane Campion, Steven Spielberg, Kenneth Branagh, Paul Thomas Anderson y Denis Villeneuve). Los cinco fueron nominados al Critics' Choice (donde también estuvo Guillermo del Toro) y cuatro de ellos estuvieron en los Globos de Oro (la HFPA incluyó a Maggie Gyllenhaal en el lugar de PTA). En el DGA apostamos porque veremos el quinteto más lógico aunque es probable que los Oscar acaben introduciendo alguna elección más singular (Ryusuke Hamaguchi, calienta que sales).

Como manda la tradición, los premios de los guionistas estarán marcados por las ausencias de algunas de las películas más importantes en la carrera. Entre los guiones que no podrán estar en el WGA están los de 'Belfast', 'El poder del perro', 'Mass', 'Pig', 'The Lost Daughter' o 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'. A estos títulos hay que sumar todas las películas de habla no inglesa, incluyendo la celebradísima 'Drive My Car'.
