El actor Richard Gere recibirá este año el premio honorífico de los Hollywood Awards. Según ha anunciado la organización de estos galardones, el premio le será entregado durante la ceremonia que tendrá lugar el próximo 22 de octubre en el Beverly Hilton Hotel de Los Angeles. "Es un privilegio para nosotros celebrar y rendir homenaje a la trayectoria profesional de un actor como Richard Gere", ha señalado el fundador y director ejecutivo de los Hollywood Awards, Carlos de Abreu.
Entre los ganadores anteriores de este galardón figuran Kirk Douglas (1997), Shelley Winters (1998), Jack Lemmon (1999), Richard Dreyfuss (2000), John Travolta (2004), Diane Keaton (2005), Robin Williams (2006), Dustin Hoffman (2008), Sylvester Stallone (2010) y Glenn Close (2011). En 2007 el actor ya ganó el premio al mejor intérprete masculino protagonista del año. Este año protagoniza "Arbitrage", un interesante thriller dirigido por Nicholas Jarecki que se presentó hace tres semanas en el festival de cine de San Sebastián.
